Labyrinth Labs entered the Bratislava IT Companies Futsal Tournament for the first time this year. After a resilient group stage, dramatic penalties against the defending champions, and a strong knockout run, our team finished 4th out of 18 companies.
This weekend we made our debut at the 16th annual Bratislava IT Companies Futsal Tournament. 18 companies entered the competition, divided into three groups. For Labyrinth Labs, it was our first appearance at the event.

The opening match did not go our way, but the early loss did not discourage us. As the group stage progressed, our team settled in and proved to be a competitive opponent. By the end of the group stage, our record stood at one loss, three draws and one win.
From the start, the team chose a slightly more defensive approach. More than once, we were saved by the man between the posts. Our goalkeeper and CEO in one person Adam Hamšík, stepped up with several crucial saves that kept us in the game.
After the group stage came the knockout rounds. In our first game of the knockout stage, Labyrinth Labs shifted gears. The defense stayed solid, the offense found its rhythm, and we secured a 3:2 victory.
The quarterfinal brought the drama. After a goalless match, everything came down to penalties. Once again, Adam delivered key saves, and in a moment that felt straight out of a football headline, the tournament newcomers eliminated the defending 2025 champions.
Just like that, Labyrinth Labs was in the top four teams of the tournament.
The semifinal and the match for 3rd place proved to be tougher challenges against more offensively strong teams. This time we could not quite find the answer. Still, for our first appearance, finishing 4th out of 18 teams feels like a result we can be proud of.
It was also a good reminder that the people we work with every day make a pretty great team outside the office too. Different field, same principle. Build strong teams, trust each other, and good things tend to happen.

See you next year.
